In Ari Asterโs folk horror film โMidsommar,โ Dani (Florence Pugh) travels with her boyfriend and a group of friends to Sweden, to experience Midsommar, a festival celebrating summer solstice and held by the Hรฅrga, a literal pagan cult that practice ritualistic sacrifice, hallucinogen-fueled ceremonies, and strict communal rules.
The film dissects how cults prey on vulnerable people like Dani by offering them family, acceptance, and meaning.
The palette of this film combines the sunny and floral setting with the morbid and surreal cult activities.
